Semester Review

     This semester at Olathe Northwest High School we learned many new things that we can apply to our every day lives as well as our upcoming semester in video. The most important things we improved on this year would probably be our editing skills. On every project that you work on in video you will most likely have to edit your film before you put it not the timeline. Last year we learned how to edit, but this your we vastly improved our editing skills and really dug into how to do everything on the timeline. Another important asset that we learned this year was the rule of thirds. This helped s out a lot when in a interview we needed to show the audience who they are watching and listening to. This year we were able to apply all of the shortcut keys that we learned in last years video class so it will improve or speed and quality of our projects while working. My favorite project that we did would have to be the one where you got assigned a person to write a story over and really got to know them better. I was assigned Will Vestal as my partner and I got to learn how his baseball skills have affected his life and others around him. He did his story over me, which i told him about my amazing Guitar Hero skills and abilities that lead me to be a great video game player. Most of my elements that I applied in my projects worked and turned out to help my project in the long run. This semester we didn't learn very much but we did improve all our skills that we learned last year by a vast amount. I really think that my social skills and Collaboration with teammates improved greatly this year because we have done more group projects and projects that required us to work with a team and really lean on each other. I really ended up enjoying all the things we learned in this class and all the projects that we have completed throughout the course of this semester. Next semester i am going to try and focus on our tasks provided and not get off task talking to other people or working on other things but other than that I'm going to do everything i did this semester because it turned out to be pretty good and I turned out to get pretty good grades on my projects that I am happy with and would want to increase the grade on them a little bit for the next semester but that would be it. Next semester I hope to learn new elements that will improve my learning and increase my quality on projects that we will do in the future so when i get out into the real world i will remember all the things i learned and be able to apply them to my job.

Blood drive reflecion

      The scope of this project is to find people to interview about the local blood drive that will be taken place at Olathe Northwest soon. The people in the video i watched of a blood drive did not do very well shooting their footage, they did hardly any of the six shot sequence rules, the only thing close to decent was when they showed a wide shot towards the end of the video but other than that the camera man was really shaky and clearly did not know very much about video.The story that was told was about two people expiriences with donating blood at a red cross blood drive. I would apply the use of the wide shot he used because that was actually decent but other than that i wouldnt apply anything that this person used in their video. I have already learned the six shot sequence and what to do for it but the only thing this person used from there is the wide shot that was not very good.The creator had a decent idea on to film his blood drive experience but he could greatly improve on numerous video shots and the way he hels the camera. Oregon community college shooting: Are journalists the bad guys?

     Yet another school shooting has taken place, this time at a small community college in oregon on october first 2015. While many people were greiving, the journalists that were covering this story were recieving hateful words on twitter for asking some of the eye witnesses from the incident if they could have an interview from them so they can report the story. The author of this article I think is trying to show that the journalists are not the bad guys in these situations, that they are just trying to do their job. He supports those statements from interviews that he had with other people that clearly state just that.
      A very strong strength that I noticed this article presents is that it summarizes close to/everything that you need to know about the journalists that were being placed in these bad situations. The author concludes that the journalists should not be labeled as the bad guys in these situations because they are just doing what they need to do in order to keep their jobs.
     Overall i think the author supported most of his main points that he stated throughout the story. The evidence in my opinion is very convincing because they made me believe that the journalists can not really help prevent these interviews if they want to keep their job. This was telling me that when a tradgedy like this happens many people do not know what to think and then they see the journalists attacking the people that were affected by this tradgedie and they want to blame the journalists.
     I do not understand why the people would attack the journalists who are just doing their jobs instead of helping out the grieving poeple of that community. I do not think that the greiving kids from this incident should target the journalists because this is probably a lot of stress on the journalists as well.    The scope of this project was to be able to create transparent text. In order to do this you had to search on the internet to try and find a background image of anything you want it to be, as long as to wasn't straight black which would make  you unable to see the texts. You then would go into dreamweaver and mess around with your fonts to change the transparency. The very end result should come out to look like the picture below. The people that would use this for are if they need words/letters behind another set of words/letters or a picture. Next time i will probably select a better image for my project instead of the one i did this time. I did end up end up enjoying this project in the end though and i look forward to do something along the lines of this in the future.

Ecomm Final

Animation

In this wing of ecomm, i was assigned to create the 3D text faces for our earlier animation, later to find out that at the very end of that rotation, those text faces were of no need and all my work was tarnished. I as well helped out with the main lawn mower animation that ryan was originally working on but occasionally needed help so i just started to go to work on that animation with him.

Graphic Design

In Graphic design i chose to work on the coupon for our automatic lawn mower and was also working more on typefaces for our logos words. The coupon was a challenge at first not knowing if i should place our automatic lawn mower on the coupon or just to put our logo on. I eventually decided to put our logo on knowing that it looks a lot better know since shona changed our original logo that i created at the very start of our project.

Video

This rotation on video we all went out to film each other doing different things to enhance our commercial content. After we filmed everything that we needed, then we went back to our groups individually and edited our different videos. The video below is the finished video that i ended up creating by editing all of the different film and audio that we got from our group. After we all finished our final videos, we collaborated and decided who's video we should use for the main project, it came down to shames so we used hers.

Summary

The scope of this project was to create a product that would basically make life easier. We were assigned into different groups and then were given instructions to share our personality types with that group. I was the personality type of a lion, which symbolizes a strong leader. I directed my group to have a final understanding of what our invention was going to be then created a sketch of our invention. We then created an animation about our product, which we then decided would be called the Auto-Mow. I learned along the course of this massive product to always have an open mind and be open to new ideas. I also learned how to be friends with people i don't usually hang out with during school hours. I would do almost everything the same exact way i did it this time because i feel like i did a wonderful job. The only thing i would do differently is that i would've enjoyed to speak up a little more and talk more in our presentation. I am excited and looking forward to the next project because i feel like a can apply many skills i learned from this project to the next.
